Thoughts on Affirmations & Manifestation

Not gonna lie, for a while I though the whole idea of positive affirmations and manifestation was total bologna. Repeating a statement can’t drastically change my life or guide me to some magical fairy place.

On the other hand, I got to a point where I wanted something to look towards for guidance. I am not religious. I did not grow up praying to a God, or in a community that shared a belief system about how to manifest a desirable future.

In my search for this outlet, I stumbled across articles & blogs about affirmations. I found that to make affirmations work for me, I needed to be self-aware and 100% truthful with myself. Preaching an affirmation that is not true will only cause confusion and denial, plus it cannot lead to a real transformation of any kind because it’s essentially a lie.

Now, that doesn’t mean you won’t reach that original big affirmation eventually.

For example, let’s say the original affirmation is: I am worthy enough to follow my dreams. That’s a pretty big goal to start with, and deep deep down, everyone may not believe they’re worthy. So let’s break it down into realistic affirmations one could start with:

  • I am a work in progress
  • I honor and value my ideas
  • I draw acceptance into my life

Affirmations are about self awareness. They’re about reassuring and bringing awareness to potential and possible growth. They tell you where you are, what you’re working on, and where you can go. When you bring consistent awareness and belief to the affirmation you may see positive benefits: taking risks, taking action quicker, making changes.

These phrases are also helpful when you’re stressed, anxious, or in pain. Unfortunately, we cannot avoid the struggle. But, they come in handy to remind us that time will pass and help us gain insight into the present.

My Favorite Affirmations:

  • You are enough
  • I am love
  • All situations are temporary
  • Today I will not stress over things I can’t control
  • I welcome and embrace change
  • I follow my intuitive inner guidance
